BEIJING 2022 - Bid History
- Six bids were initially submitted for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Four offers were subsequently withdrawn by 1 October 2014, citing either the high costs of hosting the Games or the lack of local support.
- Two remaining candidate cities - Almaty, Kazakhstan and Beijing, China - were applied to host the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
- In July 2015, at the 128th IOC session in Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, China was elected as the host city with 44 of the 84 total votes.
- Beijing, China became the first city in the world to host both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

- Chinese President Xi Jinping officially opened the 24 Winter Olympic games 2022.
- Norwegian biathlete Johannes Thingnes BOE won 4 gold and one bronze medal.
- Speed skater Ireen WUST of the Netherlands made history when she claimed her sixth career gold medal, making her the first Olympian to win gold at five different editions of the Winter Games.
- Canadian snowboarder Max PARROT won a gold medal just over three years after being diagnosed with cancer.
- Austrian skier Johannes STROLZ won gold in Alpine combined, like his father, Hubert STROLZ, in 1988.
- The 49-year-old speed female skater Claudia PECHSTEIN from Germany became the first woman to compete in eight Winter Games. She won her first olympic medal in 1992.
- Norway broke Winter Olympics record with 16 gold medals.
