PARIS 2024 - Bid History
- Initially, there were five candidate cities: Paris, France; Hamburg, Germany; Budapest, Hungary; Rome, Italy and Los Angeles, USA.
- Following withdrawals in the 2024 Summer Olympics bidding process that led to just two candidate cities - Los Angeles, USA and Paris, France, the IOC announced that the 2028 Summer Olympics would be awarded at the same time as the 2024 Games.
- In September 2017, at the 131st IOC Session in Lima, Paris was elected as the host city of the Games of the 33rd Olympiad.
- Paris became the second city to host the games three times (1900, 1924, 2024) after London (1908, 1948, 2012).

- The Opening ceremony in Paris 2024 was held outside a stadium for the first time in the Summer Games' history, and eighty-five boats ferried the athletes along the Seine River. French President Emmanuel Macron officially opened the Games of the 33rd Olympiad during a rain-soaked ceremony in the French capital.
- Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic medals were decorated with real pieces of the Eiffel Tower to give athletes an "unforgettable souvenir" of the games.
- French swimmer Leon MARCHAND won 4 gold and 1 bronze medals.
- The American female swimmer Torri HUSKE won three gold and two silver medals.
- The Australian female swimmer Mollie O'CALLAGHAN won three gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
- 17-year-old Canadian female swimmer Summer MCINTOSH became the revelation of the Olympics, winning three gold and one silver medal.
