LOS ANGELES 1932 - Bid History
- Los Angeles, California, USA, was the only candidate city for the 1932 Summer Olympic Games.
- It was only the second time the Olympiad was held outside Europe, after the 1904 Olympics in St. Louis.

- In 1932, the President of the USA, Herbert Hoover, was too busy campaigning for his re-election, so Vice-President Charles Curtis officially opened the Games of the 10th Olympiad at the renovated and enlarged 105,000-seat Coliseum stadium.
- The Great Depression and the difficulty and cost of traveling to Los Angeles, California, reduced participation in 1932.
- The introductions of these Games were a three-level podium for medal winners and the raising of the flags of the winning athletes' nations.
- Italian gymnast Romeo NERI and American female swimmer Helene MADISON won three gold medals each.
- Famous Finnish runner Paavo NURMI was banned for life on the eve of the Olympic Games for professionalism - he got payment for competing in Europe.
